Peanut the Android

Kia Ora Bloggers in literacy, we are reading The Hitchhikers Guide To Galaxy, we have just been introduced to a new character named Marvin. Marvin is an android and in the book, he is feeling depressed and that depression affects everyone else moods and makes them depressed as well.

Our task through the week was to make an android that we could create with resources from our homes.

My android is called Peanut and she is BB8's girlfriend. Peanut does have more of a back story but it is too long and hard to explain :)

Peanut is made with an old vacuum cleaner that is spray painted black. I covered the middle of the body with a variety of pink scrapbooking paper. The arms are made of a random piece of plastic I found lying around. The head is a cardboard box and the hair is striped newspaper. The eyes are these little blue things from our old trampoline.

My brother helped me to programme the mouth so that when you touch it, it will make the sound of the imperial march from Star Wars. Inside the eyes are these little lights that are solid red and then when the music play they will flash on the beat :)

Sorry the video wouldn't work :)

  3. Hi Mckenna
Nice work with your Android! I like the simple and effective look you have created by limiting your colours. It was nice of your family to help you. Perhaps next time your brother could show you how he coded the sounds and lights to work at the sam time.
