Wonderful website

Kia Ora Bloggers

As you may know in literacy, we are reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. We get to create our own websites throughout the term.

Each day we add a different thing to our website, this week we had to add something to our themes page, we had to make a TEXAS it stand for
Thesis
Explanation
eXample
Analysis
 Summary.
I did my TEXAS on improbability, impossible and absurdity, we had to do 4 paragraphs for our task this week.

Maths :)

Kia Ora Bloggers

This week in maths we have been looking at angles and polygons. We have been figuring out the interior angles of a shape as well as drawing some shapes using a compass- not a North/South compass, but a pair of compasses that you draw circles with.

This is a little run down of my knowledge,

Here is some of the work I have done on angles

Have you tried to draw things with a compass?

Finding the Angles in Different Types of Triangles :)

Kia Ora Bloggers

In Davies maths, we are working on measurement and angles.

Our task was to find out the angles of the different types of triangles.

The different types of triangles are, acute, obtuse, reflex, right angle, isosceles and equilateral.

I found this task a little bit hard because my computer kept crashing and all of my work deleted.

Have you learned about angles in maths?

Axis Mundi

Kia Ora Bloggers
In literacy, we are reading Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. In chapter 15 there is a legendary place called Magrathea, Magrathea is a place that Arthur, Ford, Zaphod and Trillian found.

For our task, we had to research a legendary place. I found it quite hard to find a place that I could find information about.  The place I chose was Axis Mundi, I chose this because I found it really interesting.

Are you excited to be back at school? I know I am :)

Peanut the Android

Kia Ora Bloggers in literacy, we are reading The Hitchhikers Guide To Galaxy, we have just been introduced to a new character named Marvin. Marvin is an android and in the book, he is feeling depressed and that depression affects everyone else moods and makes them depressed as well.

Our task through the week was to make an android that we could create with resources from our homes.

My android is called Peanut and she is BB8's girlfriend. Peanut does have more of a back story but it is too long and hard to explain :)

Peanut is made with an old vacuum cleaner that is spray painted black. I covered the middle of the body with a variety of pink scrapbooking paper. The arms are made of a random piece of plastic I found lying around. The head is a cardboard box and the hair is striped newspaper. The eyes are these little blue things from our old trampoline.

My brother helped me to programme the mouth so that when you touch it, it will make the sound of the imperial march from Star Wars. Inside the eyes are these little lights that are solid red and then when the music play they will flash on the beat :)

Sorry the video wouldn't work :)

Cool as Cake

Kia Ora Bloggers

It's finally FRIDAY!!!

I hope all have had a good week.

Today I choose to design my own cake. As you may have seen on my last post I like Brooklyn 99 so I decided to have that as the theme to my cake.

My flavours are an Oreo cake with Oreo frosting. The fondant is made with icing sugar and marshmallows.

If you were to desgin a themed cake, what theme would it be?

Brooklyn Nine-Nine Cluedo :)

Kia Ora Bloggers

It's finally FRIDAY!! YAY!!!

On Fridays, we now get given lots of fun tasks that we get to do to finish off our week.
Unfortunately, since we are in lockdown that means we can't go to technology at Christchurch East, so our tech teachers have created a website that they are putting lots of fun tech-related tasks.
I chose the task that was to create my own board game.
I took the game Cluedo and made it so it was like my favourite TV show Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
The little squared colour things are all coordinated to a character from the show.
It was quite hard to make big cards so I just made little cards.
This did take me almost all-day because I had to plan all of it and it took me quite a while to put it all together

I wrote all of the rules and the playing sheets on a google doc but I just haven't printed them out yet:)

Do you like Cluedo?   Have you tried making your own board game?
